My Priorities
-
Opportunities for All: Our schools must serve every student, preparing them for a rapidly changing world and offering opportunities for all children to excel. I am committed to thinking creatively and collaboratively about how to achieve this.
-
Safety for All Children: We must invest in mental health and special needs services, strong protocols to address hate speech and bullying, screen use guidelines in school, bike safety, and gun violence prevention. Every child deserves to feel safe and supported.
-
Trust and Community: I understand that meaningful relationships with parents, teachers, students, and community members are essential. By fostering collaboration and transparency, we can build a strong, united community that supports our children’s growth and success.
Why I am qualified
I am an engaged parent. With a sixth-grader at Greene and a kindergartener at Escondido, I have been a parent in the district for over six years and plan to be for another thirteen. I have volunteered in many different capacities at the local school site level (including room parent for the past three years) as well as on the district level as current Co-Chair of Gun Violence Prevention for Palo Alto Council of PTAs, where I co-founded a position to conduct parent outreach at all of our school sites to keep our communities safe. I am also a prior member of the PAUSD Ad Hoc Child Care Committee, where i worked to expand aftercare options at our elementary school sites. I sit on the board of Palo Alto Community Child Care, which offers aftercare programs at 11 out of 12 PAUSD elementary schools as well as summer camps and infant/toddler and preschool centers.
I am an experienced lawyer and child advocate. I began my career representing unaccompanied minors. To be a child’s lawyer means to represent them not just before family court in their guardianship proceedings, or the immigration court in their deportation proceedings, but oftentimes also in their family’s appointment to get Calfresh food benefits, address bullying at school, or attend their IEP in school. I bring this experience and holistic approach to my candidacy. I moved from representing youth in Santa Clara County to teaching at Stanford Law School to, for the last decade, doing policy work at a nonprofit in San Francisco. In this role, I advocate to create and implement laws and policies on behalf of youth, women, and families at all levels. I bring that experience and devotion to help all kids in our school district.
Why You Should Vote for Me
What sets me apart from other candidates is my proven track record of advocacy and my deep commitment to addressing the needs of every student and family in our district. Through my years in leadership, I have deep experience managing large budgets prudently, working with state and local government, and collaborating with stakeholders. I believe that my unique perspective, driven by both professional experience and personal passion, positions me to make meaningful contributions to the school board.
