I have known Alison for many years through our children's school. Alison is brilliant, kind, thoughtful, and an effective advocate for children. I am so grateful that she is running to serve on the school board - she is the best candidate I can imagine for this position!
Robb Willer, PAUSD parent
Alison is one of the most intelligent, fair-minded, and good-hearted people I have ever met. I trust her judgment, fairness, and values without exception. She's a very skilled attorney - having committed her professional life to supporting immigrants' rights and also a thoughtful and caring parent. But despite her great qualities, Alison is absolutely modest, humble, and sincerely curious about others' views. Of course we need people who listen to parents in this role, and she will most certainly do that. As a PAUSD parent, I feel we would be so lucky to have her service!
Chris Torres, PAUSD parent
I endorse Alison for school board! I have known Alison and her family for over six years now. Our daughters have been friends at Escondido Elementary since Kindergarten. Escondido serves a uniquely diverse group of students and families in PAUSD. Alison has been a great part of our community and she is part of what makes Escondido special. I have also had the pleasure to serve on the Palo Alto Community Childcare (PACCC) board with Alison. When the challenges between PAUSD and PACCC arose the other year, Alison was a passionate advocate for PACCC and its role in serving our children with school-age after school care with licensed teachers. Alison went to school board meetings and advocated for PACCC and our children. Alison knows what is best for our children and with her work in the professional world, she knows the importance of diversity and inclusion. That is why Alison will get my vote for school board!

As a public school parent to three elementary school children, I know how important our public schools are to our children, their families, and our community. Alison will work hard to ensure Palo Alto schools get the support they need to provide an education where excellence and equity reinforce each other through academic achievement. It would be a gift to have Alison's thought leadership and sensibilities at PAUSD.

My kids have followed Alison's through day-care & elementary school, and I've always been impressed by Alison's commitment to and engagement with the community. She exudes positive energy, seems to know everybody, and thinks deeply about the issues affecting our kids. That energy plus her professional experience in legal advocacy for underserved communities makes her abundantly qualified for this role. I trust her to lead this district in a positive direction!

I wholeheartedly recommend her!
Star Teachout, former PAUSD parent, substitute teacher, volunteer
Along with Alison's experience working with institutions and agencies--which will address the financial aspects of this position--I appreciate her professional immigration and child advocacy experience that will enrich the board's resources. A lack of meaningful connection and sense of belonging touches all students in our modern world, not just immigrants, and her focused, respectful insights into this might help bring all of us together just a bit more. Furthermore, as a problem-solver Alison doesn’t appear driven by a political agenda at the expense of respectful dialog, accurate information gathering, and effective decision-making. Parenting and supporting the quest for meaningful post-graduation lives for our students can be a stressful path. Teachers, students, and families all benefit by having thoughtful representation to calm us down. When difficult issues comes before the board we will not all agree on solutions, but we can find comfort in knowing our board members are listening and considering our points of view.

Allie Horevitz, PAUSD parent
I am thrilled that Alison is running for PAUSD school board. I have had the pleasure and honor of serving alongside Alison as her co-chair for gun safety and violence prevention for the Palo Alto PTA council over the past year. Alison is fully committed to the safety and well-being of our school community on all levels (students, teachers, staff). She is thoughtful, a patient listener, fair-minded. Alison is an effective advocate and leader and has been able to affect change on both micro and macro levels. Additionally, I have had the joy of participating in our cooperative preschool with Alison. During her time as a preschool parent, she has been actively involved in the school (volunteering in the classroom regularly) and cares deeply about child development and co-creating a school community where every child and their family feels a deep sense of belonging. Please join me in voting for Alison for school board - our school community will thrive with Alison at the helm!
